The BRTA alliance — Basque Research & Technology Alliance — in its third edition, awards three established career trajectories and three young talents with promising futures in research. This initiative is part of the development of professional career plans and recognition of outstanding researchers whose results have been transferred to companies, thus positively impacting their competitiveness.
The BRTA awards ceremony took place last Monday, May 26, at Orconera-Lutxana Industria Bilduma in Barakaldo.
These awards serve to recognize, value, and encourage the work of individuals dedicated to researching, developing, and transferring technology within BRTA member centers. The awards are given in various categories, including “Career Trajectory,” recognizing a fruitful career, and “Research Projection,” acknowledging the work done to date and a promising future in research.

It is in this latter category that Dr. Nerea Aranjuelo, a researcher at Vicomtech in the Connected, Cooperative, and Autonomous Systems area, has been recognized. “This award means a recognition of the work, perseverance, and effort of recent years for me. In fact, it makes me look back and realize all that I have learned and experienced, which fills me with pride and gratitude towards all my colleagues who have helped me get here today. It is also a great motivation to keep learning and contributing every day,” Nerea comments.

Nerea’s research focuses on perception systems for instrumented vehicles; just as people use their senses and brain to understand the environment, the Connected, Cooperative, and Autonomous Systems team works on systems that analyze this same reality through sensors such as cameras and algorithms, for example, machine learning.
This award is a great source of pride for the entire team and clearly reflects the excellence, dedication, and high level of talent that characterize Vicomtech. It is a recognition of the continuous effort, innovation, and commitment of all professionals who work daily to transfer knowledge to our industrial fabric and society.
